Christina Aguilera has apologised for messing up her lines during a Super Bowl performance of the American national anthem.
The actress opened the Sunday night event with a rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner, but when it came to the fourth line, 'O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming', she sang, 'What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last gleaming.'
Aguilera, who has been singing the anthem since she was seven, has since released a statement apologising for her error, stating: 'I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.'
